According to our Spanish box-office analysis site, BoxOffice.es, there was a lots a heat in Spain coming from a local film-trailer. read the Report by Pau Brunet Below:

Room in Rome Causes Spanish Online Earthquake.

On May 06, MSN Spain published the first eight minutes of Room in Rome, the new film by Julio Medem, quickly becoming an internet event. The clip was viewed over 620,000 times in just 24 hours, with the record number of visits causing the collapse of MSNs Spanish Video service. In the same manner, Preview Networks, a company dedicated to the distribution of trailers, reports that Room in Rome was the most watched trailer on the same date with more than 25,000 visits in one day, and more than 40,000 in a 24-hour period. In fact, compared with the other trailers distributed by Preview Networks in previous days, the views of the trailer of Room in Rome, has increased from 20 to 30 times, becoming the most watched trailer of that week.

Paramount has thus earned strength and buzz for the premiere of the film, generating a huge noise for Room in Rome. The resulting digital avalanche, may have assisted the film in its efforts to gain strength in the audience sector on which the film had fewer options: under 20, and 20-25 year-olds. The film has had a promotion budget of about € 700,000 and cost around 2.4 M € to make.

In recent years, there have been many films that have used this idea to design online form the first minutes of the film as an appetizing “tease”. Room in Rome was the first Spanish film to do so, or at least the most successful film employing this ploy. The difference with similar efforts to promote films like this by American productions, is that this action was taken just hours before the premiere, which could impact very positively on the film’s first weekend in release, thanks to the immediacy of the premiere.

UPDATE – By the date of publication of this note on PNs blog, the trailer views had risen to over 116,000 view’s within PNs Spanish Media Network, making it the most watched trailer over the same time-period.
