MTV does Europe

By Heather Timmerman Preview Networks PR and News Comments Off

Success in Italian market leads to European expansion in video content distribution with MTV.   Preview Networks and MTV have signed a deal to expand their film trailer distribution service to all major European markets including Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

The future collaboration will provide a centralized system for publishing high quality video for film trailers and extras content including red carpet footage, interviews, and clips for upcoming releases for the MTV At The Movies section of the local country websites.

Preview Networks has been providing movie trailers to MTV Italy’s cinema section since 2008 and we are pleased that they have expanded service and taken advantage of receiving the ready made content, in all local languages.

We’re happy to announce the CineTrailer.it and Preview Networks partnership continues to strengthen.  The collaboration between the two companies began online in 2009 and is now extended to all distribution channels.  This includes internet sites Zapster.it and CineTrailer.it, the web application for Philips Net TV Sets, the Windows Mobile and Android Smartphone apps, and the Boxee application.

In a recent press release Marco Dufour, head of the CineTrailer project had this to say:

“The high quality and security level granted by Preview Networks to its trailer distribution system, allows us to better develop our activities, focusing on creating and distributing editorial content and services on next generation platforms.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Every once in a while you encounter a piece of market data that truly speaks your language and makes the point you sometimes have a hard time communicating yourself.  That report for Preview Networks is the Moviegoers 2010 Report by Stradella Road.  This report confirmed what we have seen and felt in the market:

  • 86% of moviegoers go online via computer or mobile device at least once a day
  • 93% use internet search to find more information about movies
  • 45% of heavy moviegoers have looked at aggregation sites
  • Mobile penetration has reached 90%

What this means to us is that it is more important than ever to continue to expand our presence in mobile as well as our already strong media presence online.   What this means for our customers is that they are in the right space; as we are constantly striving to stay on top of the emerging technology channels and trends in video content distribution.

Last week there was buzz on the web about Twitter incorporating a new setting called “Tweet Media” that would allow photos and videos in the stream of text only available today.

Later that setting was removed and a statement was released from Twitter indicating it was a “small test of a potential consumption setting for inline media.”

It will be interesting to see what develops in this space and we are very excited for the potential it could provide.   Being a video content distribution company ourselves, with a network of over 1500 media, it’s a perfect time to continue those conversations we’ve already begun with our friend Twitter.

However, we’re very interested to hear how the average user feels about this development.  If you’re an avid Tweeter, leave your comments!  You can keep up to date on the latest developments here, courtesy of Mashable.

In May, 2010 Preview Networks launched a customer survey to keep a pulse on what is new and happening in the video distribution world.   We inquired on preferences in content distribution channels and online tracking methods.

5 out of 10 customers surveyed indicated mobile would be one of the main developments in regards to content distribution.   Not surprising, with the launch of Android phones and the new iPhone 4.   The good news for our customers is that Preview Networks supports multiple iPhone and Android apps with new developments in the pipeline.

70% also indicated they would like enhanced reporting capabilities – something we are already working on.

Perhaps the best news of all however, is that 96% of our customers either already have recommended our service or would do so to a colleague in the future. Speed and quality of service were at the top of the list, with size and quality of network falling in line right behind.   In other words, Preview Networks provides: “Fast and friendly service delivering content to quality networks you can trust.”

Now that’s something to shout about!
